Bulloch County Jail Population
The strongest current county jail population snapshot in the research is the Georgia Sheriffs' Association Jail Report for May 2026. It listed Bulloch County Jail with 362 inmates and a primary jail capacity of 450, or 80.4 percent of capacity. The same report split the population into 213 awaiting trial, 57 serving a county sentence, 66 sentenced to state, and 22 in other categories. Those numbers describe the primary jail only and should not be merged with the separate Bulloch County Correctional Institution capacity.
The FY2025 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report gives a longer operating view: average daily jail population was 371 in FY2025, and 4,021 people were booked during that fiscal year. Older county budget material should be read by date. The FY2022 budget described a 400 capacity count after an FY2009 expansion, while the May 2026 statewide jail report used 450 as the current primary jail capacity figure.
